Zac & Mia - A. J. Betts -
English Review
Summary
The last person Zac had expected in the room next to his was a girl like Mia: angry, kicked on her toes quickly and with a dubious taste in music. In the 'real' world he would never befriend her. But different rules apply in the hospital and what starts with knocking on the wall leads to a note - and finally to a friendship they both had not seen coming.
You need courage in the hospital; and a different kind of courage than in the ordinary world. Zac needs Mia in one of these worlds. And in the other world Mia needs Zac. Or maybe they both need each other, much longer than they initially think.
Review
Before I started reading this book I thought it was going to be a bit the same as The fault in or stars by John Green. But it is not, it is also a good book, but the story takes a very different turn. Zac & Mia are two completely different people, Zac is happy that he can be treated and tries to make the best of his life, Mia is angry and pushes away everyone who cares about her and doesn't even tell her friends that she has cancer. In this book I could agree with Mia, if I would experience the same as her I would be angry with the world.
This book was moving, original and beautifully written. I did expect that there was more romance in this book, sometimes there was a piece that was a bit long-winded, but very little.
